Path of Promise 

With locations in Victoria and Edna, Path of Promise is an intensive education program designed to assist individuals who are experienceing problems with alcohol or drug abuse.  Participants learn to understand and anticipate triggers that may lead to substance abuse.  Group members hold each other accountable for making the right choices.

The program is based on the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, which provides acomprehensive model of recovery for the whole person.  An individual must meet specific criteria to enter the program, including:

  1. Be at least 18 years old.
  2. Have a primary problem with the abuse of alcohol and/or drugs.
  3. Have no evidence of drug/alcohol addiction requiring medically supervised detoxification.
  4.  Not currently be exhibiting signs of withdrawal.
  5. Be able to answer basic questions and is oriented to person, place and time.
  6. Agree to attend the 10-week long program.  Any missed sessions MUST be made up.

Clients or referral sources must call Mid-Coast Family Services at (361) 575-7842 to schedule an assessment for admission to the program.  This is a fee for this class; inquire about current class charges at the time of assessment scheduling.
