The Mid-Coast Crisis Center provides services to victims of family violence and sexual assault, including adults and children. Individuals seeking assistance can speak with a trained advocate by calling the crisis hotline at 361.573.4357 or 1.800.870.0368. The hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. If transportation to the Mid-Coast Crisis Center is a barrier, hotline staff will work with callers to explore available options and help connect them with services. Ask the hotline staff for more information.

Similarly to families declining to evacuate from hurricanes due to not wanting to leave pets in dangerous situations, many individuals hesitate to leave an abuser because of pet safety. Pets are valued family members that also deserve safety, so the Mid-Coast Crisis Center has a kennel to house residents' pets (cats, rabbits, birds, and non-aggressive breed dogs) during the residents' stay.

If someone you know needs assistance and cannot call on their own because of safety concerns, please call the crisis hotline for them. Advocates will provide the information you need to pass on to the individual in danger.

If you are interested in volunteering your time to assist in the day-to-day tasks of running the Mid-Coast Crisis Center, please download and print a Volunteer Application, Volunteer Policy, and Volunteer Background Check from the “Get Involved” tab.  Some of the tasks may include cleaning in common areas, organizing donations, assisting new clients with orientation of the facility, cooking a meal, or transporting clients to medical or legal appointments.  We would love to have you join our team and we can work around your schedule.  Because of the nature of the work we do and the individuals and families we serve, there will be background checks, drug screenings and specific training for each volunteer.
